Cookie Policy

Cookie Policy

Article 22.2 of Law 34/2002 on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce (“LSSI-CE”) of July 11 establishes the obligation of blogging service providers and websites to warn and inform users (the “Users”) of the existence of cookie technology, what they are, how they work, and the permissions required to use them.

In compliance with the LSSI-CE (Spanish Law on the Use of Personal Data), this website (hereinafter, the “Website”) collects and uses User information as indicated in the Privacy Policy and Legal Notice. In this regard, one of the ways Socotra LLC collects information is through the use of cookies.

1. WHAT ARE COOKIES?

A cookie is a small amount of information that is stored in your browser (such as Google Chrome or Apple Safari) when you browse most websites. This is done so that the browser remembers certain information that can later be read by only the browser that implemented it (hereinafter, “Cookies”).

This website is accessible without cookies being enabled, although disabling them may prevent it from functioning properly.

On the contrary, viruses, Trojans, worms, spam, spyware, and pop-up windows are not Cookies.

2. WHAT INFORMATION DO COOKIES STORE?

The information collected through Cookies includes technical and statistical data (which may include the date and time of visits to the Website, pages viewed, the length of time the user has spent on the Website), personal preferences, and content customization, among other things.

However, none of the Cookies allow the storage of telephone numbers or any other means of personal contact, nor of sensitive personal information, such as credit card information and numbers and/or banking details, photographs, and/or personal information, among others. Likewise, Cookies cannot extract information from the user’s hard drive or steal personal information. The only way for user private information to become part of the Cookie files is if the user personally provides that information to the server and consents to the transfer and storage of data.

3. WHAT TYPES OF COOKIES EXIST?
  • Technical Cookies: These are the most basic cookies and allow, among other things, to know when a human or an automated application is browsing, when an anonymous user is browsing and when a registered user is browsing, that is, basic tasks for the operation of any dynamic website.
  • Analysis Cookies: These collect information about the type of browsing you’re doing, the sections you use most, products viewed, time zone of use, and language, among other things.
  • Advertising Cookies: These display ads based on browsing, country of origin, and language, among other things.
4. WHAT ARE OUR OWN AND THIRD-PARTY COOKIES?
  • Own Cookies

These cookies are sent to the User’s computer or device and managed exclusively by Socotra LLC to ensure the Website functions optimally. The information collected is used to improve the quality of the Website, its content and services, as well as the User experience. These cookies allow us to recognize repeat visitors to the Website and adapt the content to offer content tailored to their preferences.

The entity(ies) responsible for supplying cookies may transfer this information to third parties, provided that this is required by law or a third party is processing this information for said entities.

  • Own Cookies used by Socotra
  • Session Cookies – These allow the User to enter and exit the Website.
  • Personalization Cookies – These help remember which people or websites the User has interacted with, so that related content can be shown to them.
  • Preference Cookies – These cookies allow us to remember the user’s settings and preferences, such as preferred language and privacy settings.
  • Security Cookies – These prevent security risks, primarily to detect hacking attempts or attempts to obtain sensitive information from the Website or the User.
  • Third-Party Cookies

These cookies allow access to the website. For this reason, they are usually stored in the user’s browser. Cookie owners have their own data protection and cookie policies, and are, in each case, responsible for their own files and privacy practices. Users should refer to these cookies to learn about these cookies and, where applicable, the processing of their personal data.

Use of Cookies on the Website

The Cookies used on the Website are associated solely with an anonymous User and their computer. No references are provided that would allow the User’s first and last name to be deduced. They cannot read data from their hard drive or include viruses in their texts. Likewise, the Website cannot read Cookies implanted on the User’s hard drive from other servers.

This Website, like most others, includes features provided by third parties (see 3.2 above). In this regard, new designs or third-party services are regularly tested for recommendations and reports. This may occasionally modify Cookie settings and cause the appearance of Cookies not detailed in this Policy. It is important to note that these are temporary Cookies, which cannot always be reported and are solely for study and evaluation purposes. Should they become permanent, they would be included in the Policy. Finally, under no circumstances will Socotra use Cookies that compromise your privacy and sensitive information.

6. AUTHORIZATION FOR THE USE OF COOKIES

In accordance with the LSSI-CE, the use of Cookies on the Website requires the User’s consent; this authorization must be based on an authentic choice, offered through an affirmative and positive decision by the User.

In this regard, Socotra has posted a Cookies notice (“Cookies Notice”) at the bottom of all pages on the Website, in which the User accepts that, by browsing the Website, they expressly accept the use of Cookies by clicking a button, as established in this Cookies Policy and the Legal Notice.

7. DEACTIVATION OR BLOCKING OF COOKIES

To restrict, block, or delete cookies, the user must do so through their browser settings.

If the User does not wish the Website to place Cookies on their device, they can adjust their browser settings so that they are notified before any Cookies are placed. Similarly, they can adjust their settings so that the browser rejects all Cookies, or only Third-Party Cookies. They can also delete any Cookies already on their device. The User will need to adjust the settings for each browser and device they use separately.

If you do not wish to receive Cookies, Socotra cannot guarantee that the Website will function properly. Some functionality may be lost, and you may no longer be able to view certain areas of the Website.

Each browser has a different method for adjusting settings. If necessary, the user should consult the browser’s help function to establish the correct settings.

Finally, to disable cookies on a mobile phone, the user should consult the manual for the specific device for more information.

8. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT COOKIES

9. CHANGES IN THE COOKIE POLICY

Socotra LLC reserves the right to modify this Cookie Policy at any time and without prior notice. In such cases, Socotra LLC will update the Cookie Policy on the Website and notify Users of the changes via email.
